Does this sound like reflux?

My 8.5 month old has been struggling with sleep for around 8 weeks. I’m not expecting her to sleep through the night but I’m convinced what is happening is not normal.

Last night she went down on her own in her cot at 8pm. She’d had her tea 4.30pm then had 7 ounces in two sittings between 7-8. She then woke at 10.30 upset and unsettled offered water and cuddled but wouldn’t settle so offered milk she had around 2 ounces and after rocking and plenty of back stroking finally went back to sleep an hour later. We repeated this at 12, 2,4 before she finally got up for the day at 6.30. She is formula fed and we are doing baby led weaning she is a very good eater. She was sicky as a baby but is rarely sick after feeds now.

She naps well during the day, but sleeps elevated either in the bouncer, pram or car seat. Last week she had a stomach upset and was off solids but slept better only waking once and easy to settle.

Doctor has prescribed Mezzopram for reflux which I’m going to start today.

People have suggested I try to let her cry it out which I’m reluctant to do if it is because she’s uncomfortable during the night and needs my comfort. She constantly seems exhausted and I’m worried about it affecting her development.

Would appreciate any advice or similar experiences. Thanks mums

Hi there, OP.

We're really sorry to hear that you and your LO are going through this. We hope you don't mind but we've just moved your thread over to the Children's Health topic.

Hopefully, some MNers will very soon be along with some useful support and advice.

Best of luck to you.

Seems late for reflux to start at 8.5 months, its usually from birthish and starts to come to a end around 9-12 months in my experience!

Are you sure its not teething? My middle dc was kept awake by teething pain for months...
