Temperature question

Dd is currently bunged up with a cold, without fail everytime she’s ill, she gets such a high temperature at night (sometimes alarmingly so) that takes ages to come down but is absolutely fine during the day,
Does anyone know if this is normal or does this happen to anyone else’s DC?

I wouldn't say this was normal

Can you speak to a doctor?

Well, I think it's normal for temperatures to raise in the evening when kids are I'll, so I guess this could be a version of that. But what do you mean by very high? Is she OK-ish in herself when it happens? Does it resolve completely when the bug has gone? Does she wear heavy bed covers?

It is normal for temp to rise at night from about 6pm onwards I've noticed with my ds when he's ill.

Sorry the replies only came up on my threads I’m on today.

It’s only when she’s ill (cold etc) but being that she’s 3 and in nursery she seems to pick up everything!
She has a light quilt and usually just wears knickers or a thin nightie to bed so not overheating.
Temp ranges anywhere from 38-41degrees but usually around the 39 mark, but she is v hot to touch and (not on this occasion) sometimes hallucinates/talks gibberish.
Breathing is ok but seems more laboured when she has it.
Sometimes it comes down with ibuprofen, sometimes I have to give paracetomal too an hour later.

As I said in the day she’s fine, slightly warm at times or looking a bit tired but generally ok.
I have an older DC and they never suffered with these high temps every time they has a cold or sore throat

Mine all had very characteristic way of being ill.
Dc1 rarely had a temperature above 39, but was hallucinating from about 38.5 and at 39 very floppy.
Dc2 her temperature would hover around 38.5,then jump to over 40, and sometimes over 41, where it would remain for almost exactly 3 days then go back to normal. She'd be running round and playing happily over that time.
Dc3 had constant ear infections. Rarely over 39.5, but usually sick with a rising temperature and at 39 would be floppy. With tonsillitis would get to a point he couldn't even stand, even though his temperature wouldn't be too bad. He'd sleep for 18-24 hours and then be fine.

Thanks everyone for the replies, seems it’s not anything to worry about if it’s fairly common
