Pedaetrician that is not pro-vaccine

Hi everyone,

I’m currently pregnant with child number two and reading up on the vaccines and as many of you know there is a sea of information to go through. I would love to have a contact of a professional with whom I can discuss alternative vaccination schedules and get his/her opinion on separate vaccines in general.

I am based in London.

Thanks in advance!

Best,

Yelena

I would think all paediatricians would recommend the same schedule of vaccinations that the nhs offer, with maybe some extra ones like chicken pox that aren't available on the nhs unless in certain circumstances.

There isn't a sea of information. There's masses of evidence based, peer reviewed evidence showing that vaccines save kids from death and profound disabilities, then there's a load of misinformation, tinfoil hat conspiracy crap and lies.

I am sure any decent doctor would discuss a non-standard vaccination schedule but IMO if they are not pro-vaccine then they are not pro-evidence based medicine and are not a doctor I would want for my child.

Good luck finding a paediatrician who is not pro-vaccine. I've met dozens due to two of my children having health conditions and not a single one was not pro-vaccine or about alternatives to vaccine schedule. The alternative is a child potentially contracting what could be a life-threatening or changing illness.

I think Dr Google is your best bet, all registered paediatricians have enough brain cells to back the current NHS vaccination programme.

Above the chip shop in the high street would be my recommendation for where to find them.

Doctors act on medical evidence and in the best interests of their patients. That's why they are universally pro-vaccine.

What you are looking for is one whose ethics are dodgy enough that they will take a lot of money from you to satisfy your silly conspiracy-theory whims. Just get your kids vaccinated. Why not try googling what used to happen to kids with polio, measles and whooping cough pre-vaccination, instead of wading through a sea of (mis)information?

Could I please ask everyone who does not have information to share to abstain from posting their messages? It’s not helpful in any way.

But you're not going to find a medically qualified doctor who is not pro vaxx as they are trained to make evidence based decisions and all the evidence suggest vaxx is best. By far.

This paediatrician does not exist, for reasons stated above. The Portland has good paediatricians but in my experience they will recommend you follow the nhs schedule plus chicken pox vaccine.

Lol. Don't think you're going to find what you want OP. Just do what the NHS advises, they don't want kids catching terrible diseases. Costs them a fucking fortune when a kid is paralysed or blinded by a preventable disease

Unlikely to be able to find one. Your going to have to stick to sites that have no medical backing or education- unlikely to find a medical professional who will agree with you, as it would go against the GMC's recommendation for care.

Yes, it is actually very helpful because you appear to be looking for a quack excuse for a doctor. The only thing that's helpful is if you stop looking at dodgy websites and get your kids vaccinated.

Is this your first time on mumsnet? You don't get to dictate how people react!

Non vaccination is a stupid idea

No. This is a public forum.

Any "doctor" you can find who doesn't support the standard vaccine schedule is either an out and out quack or none too bright, and should be avoided.

This is the equivalent of the OP asking if she should pay her email Nigerian Prince by BACS or paypal, and getting the arse when posters tell her not to pay at all.

Why do you only want to discuss with a doctor who agrees with you? I think you’ll really struggle to find any qualified medical professional who will directly contradict the approved vaccination schedule.

If you’re completely convinced you don’t want to vaccinate, or that you want to vaccinate to a different schedule no one is going to stop you. No decent medical professional, or anyone with a modicum of understanding of vaccinations, is going to validate your decision though.

You might have asked where can you buy a live rainbow unicorn and could anyone who doesn’t believe they exist to abstain from replying as it isn’t helpful.

To clarify: what you are asking for doesn’t exist. Therefore you are not going to like any of the responses.

Sorry op, doctors have to sign an oath promising to "do no harm to their patients". Not vaccinating your child could harm or even kill him so it would be against the doctors code of conduct x

Dr Richard Halvorsen is a GP who has done a lot of research into vaccines and will offer an alternative vaccine schedule and separate vaccines. He offers private consultations (including over the phone).

He has written a book on vaccines based on extensive research he has done so you would probably want to read this first in order to get the most out of the consultation.

He runs clinics in London and Manchester offering a different vaccine schedule to the NHS.

Just out of interest Yelena, what did you decide about
Vaccinations with child 1. Why has that decision changed?

You do know that the rates for measles cases (and sadly measles deaths) in Europe have made a frightening jump this year , mostly because vaccination percentages have fallen. I don't know when your baby is due but it will take a while for the population immunity to build up again, so if I was a prospective parent with a child due I would be making sure they were as protected as possible as soon as possible.

DS has seen loads of paediatrics. He has a long term medical condition which ironically means he can't be vaccinated yet. None of them have ever been antivax.

Why would you now want to protect your child against illnesses when you have the opportunity to?

When DS gets blue lighted and admitted to the kids ward tonight I will ask the doctors for you. He only has a common cold/virus thing as told by a GP this afternoon but cause his lungs are wonky we ALWAYS gets poorly and admitted normally at 3 am. Don't put your child at such risk it's shit honestly.
