The GP has told me that DD should still go to nursery, "spread it around and build up immunities" she actually said. She's besides herself so I don't think that will be possible yet but it seems information on an incubation period differs as the NHS website which she also looked up said otherwise.

Anyway, my question is how long was it realistically before your DC was comfortable enough to go back to school/childcare? I will stay at home with DD for as long as necessary but wondered whether to take it off as a week off of work from parental leave allowance?

Also, I can't get a clear answer on this but I've never had it, DD has already (before diagnosis) put her pre-used bickepeg in my mouth when I was caught off guard, sneezed and coughed all over me, kissed me with all her dribble...the list goes on really 🤷 Am I destined to get it?

Dd went back in the next day. She was spotty but not ill and nursery don’t exclude for it. She may have had a longer nap than usual but was fine otherwise.
It depends on how poorly they are with it. My friend’s da was really unwell for a couple of days.
I managed to avoid it and so did dh. Dd is particularly fond of ‘surprise licking’ when we go in for a kiss.

My DC didn't really need to be off nursery with it as it seemed pretty mild and the nursery are fine with them coming in.

I, on the other hand, got a load of ulcers in my mouth which were awful. When I read up on it it seemed that most adults are immune, so hopefully you won't get it.

My twins both had it at the same time. One more poorly than the other but both generally unwell. My childminder wouldn't take them until all the spots and blistered had dried up, so they missed two full weeks. She did say that there is no official exclusion period and it was up to her to decide for herself as to whether she would accept them or not.
