My 12 year old son is overweight, our holiday in the sun made me realise that he does need to loose quite a few pounds, I feel absolutely terrible such a bad mum that I've let this happen to him, he hasn't got the greatest confidence so I don't want him to b bullied, what is your thoughts on a slimming club or shall we go it alone? ,

I would go it alone first by examining what food you allow into your house and not only what type of meals you are cooking but also his portion size. 12 is hard because you cannot always control what they eat when they are out with friends or if they snack when you are in bed so make sure the snacks at home are healthy. Also exercise also needs to be encouraged so if you have a dog, dog walking every evening after dinner with you or if he likes sports then maybe a local football group or both of you out bike riding. Changing your routine for a few weeks and see if it makes a difference first before going to slimming group, and make sure you dont tell him this is for him to lose weight, just say mums on a health kick and everyone needs to be out in the fresh air more during holidays! Hope that helps. Good on you for seeing it before it's too late and he's an older teenager, you're doing the right thing op, good luck.
