DS is 11 and normally a healthy and very active child, he's on the skinny side but I think it's just his build as he eats very well.
For the last 3-4 weeks he's been catching bug after bug, nothing that's left him bedridden but colds, glands up, fatigue etc.
The worrying part is the hallucinations (if they can be called that). The way he describes them it sounds like his perception of things changes rather than seeing things that are not there. He feels everything is moving very fast including sounds plus things he knows are close seem very far away. Ringing in the ears and a headache,
It's hard for him to describe but when it's happening he is very frightened and cries and needs to be in complete silence- it's horrible to watch.
I've googled symptoms and 'Alice in wonderland syndrome' seems to be the closest to what he is experiencing although the frequency of these 'episodes' is different. DS is having several a day and they've started recently as opposed to when he was very young.
We've seen the GP and she had no clue even suggesting antibiotics despite not finding any evidence of infection and no fever. He has been referred to a specialist which takes 4-6 weeks for an appointment.
I'm just wondering if these symptoms are familiar with anyone?
DS has missed quite a bit of school because of it and they have phoned me twice to collect him after having a strange episode- even though once it has passed he'll be fine to continue in class.
I have wrote a letter to them explaining what is going on and asked them to provide a quiet place for him when it does happen- not that easy I know.
Feeling a bit helpless
