temps and chest infection

DS is 2.5 and started with high temps and snot last Friday. Didn't improve and on Tuesday he was given amoxicillin for a chest infection.
She said at least 48 hours to work which will be this evening...

BUT what I'm struggling with is he has been spiking temps at night of 39 and feeling really hot when he does. Hot hands etc

Last night he felt the same really hot but when I did his temp it was 36.1 - gave nurofen as seemed low and I phoned 111 and a doctor phoned me back and said 36 was normal - but why did he still feel so hot?! The doctor just ignored me with that question. I did my temp last night and it said 36.5 and in the day I am usually 37 so I think the thermometer is okay?! My other DS was 36 this morning as well...

When my DS was ill with infection his temp went from 38.4 to 35.7 in an hour and I lost all reasoning and took him to the dr immediately. When we arrived she took his temp and he was at 36.7 and she assured me that it's completely normal to range from 35-38 when fighting an infection. It also took 48 hrs for the amoxicillin to work and break his fever completely.
I'd give it till tomorrow if he has a fever in the morning call his dr

Thanks for the reply Christine - I would have also rushed to doctors except it was the middle of the night! (When I seem to lose all reason and logic)

Below 35 degrees you need to get medical advice. But 36.1 is pretty normal.
Also I find Nurofen actually drops my DS’s temp quite a bit - to below 35 degrees which meant we ended up in A&E one night.
It sounds as if he’s on the mend now & the antibiotics are kicking in.
I took my DS’s temp today as he seem all hot and flushed - it was 36.3 or something!!!
