Hello,
I have a 4 year old son who is obsessed with trying to eat, and even eating some detergents!! This is very worrying, although it does not seem to be effecting his health.

Has anyone else had this experience? And any advice?

Sincerely,
A worried mum Shock

Kids. Anything they fancy, they’ll eat. Put them up high so he can’t reach them.

Highly corrosive stuff, goes without saying that you absolutely have to keep this locked up, out of sight, out of reach. And try to dissuade him - he's 4 not 2, so explain that it will hurt him...

Lock it away.

Explain to him it is a poison and can kill him.

Eating or craving non-food items like washing powder can be a sign of a mineral or micronutrient deficiency.
Look up 'Pica' symptoms.

I had Pica myself for years (not laundry detergent but similar) and it turned out I was iron deficient. The cravings to eat odd stuff went away completely once this was treated.

It may be that he's just being a typical experimental 4 year old but could be worth checking it out with a doctor just in case.

Are you serious? Put it somewhere he can't get at it, it's really dangerous!

Does he want to eat anything else or is if just detergent?

Yeah..so this is not normal and if he gets his hands on a laundry capsule it could kill him. Detergents should not be left in a child’s reach anyway? Fill the fruit bowl
And tell him to help himself. I’d be at the doctor if my child ate laundry powder

When did he eat it??

He needs a doctor. Pica if that’s what it is needs intervention and support on how to handle it.

Prada wili (sp) needs intervention as well. Take him to the gp and don’t get fobbed pfft.

That is assuming this is real.

Why is it in his reach? And what sort of detergent? It’s really dangerous!

I think this must be a wind up
