Any advice to put my mind at ease. My LG will be 11months old on Sunday and pretty much since September/October time she's been ill! She's had a couple of colds throughout the year but since the cold weather started bam she's been ill. All of it seems to give her a bad chest and we've ended up in hospital a couple of times. Every doctor tells me it's a good thing as it's building her immune system, is this right? Or will she be effected as she grows up? Hate seeing her so ill, I'm writing this as she's currently asleep next to me in bed with another bad chest :( thanks xx

Oh no I'm so sorry for your dd and hope she feels a lot better soon. Hopefully the doctors advised you how long it would take for your little one to fully recover. It must be awful seeing her poorly for so long. If the immune system thing is something to go on I worry about my ds because he's 9 months old and never had a cold or anything at all. Hmm

I had exactly the same when my DC were babies. I promise it absolutely improves with age!

Its totally normal for this age and this time of year. Some toddlers get lucky and get through a winter without anything, others seem to be constantly ill with one bug after another! It wont affect her long term if its just the usual coughs and colds.

Apparently babies can get up to 8 colds a year. Confused.

My ds is the same. Snotty little monster that he is he always picks up colds.

It’s really very normal and it does get better.

Sorry to hear she's been unwell. Hope she gets well soon. Ds1 had every cough and cold going around this time of year too when he was 8 months to a year old. (He's a December baby). I went back to work when he was 10/11 months old. I remember driving him home one day and I'd never seen someone look so literally green with a bug. He is nearly 6 and is hardly ever ill. He's had two days off school (for a hernia op) in 3 years. His immune system is brilliant! Hope she gets well soon xx

is your LO at Nursery or have s sibling? Or even socialise with other children?

We had a really tough year or so with my yoingest, probably starting around the 10 month mark. At one point he had 6 lots of antibiotics over a period of 4 months. I was beginning to get really concerned. And he was a lot more poorly than my DD had ever been.
And then he turned 2. It got so much better. And he’s only been poorly a couple of times in the last year.
He was actually poorly this week with a bad cough and high temp but he managed to fight it off in about 24 hours. Previously he would had been ill for at least 4 or 5 days.
I am a great believer in building the immune system up.
My eldest is rarely ill and has not really been for a number of years now (she’s 6).
It does get better

I read somewhere that they get a dozen colds a year at this age!

That's bad enough but I seem to catch them all too... Envy
