Ok to make a child clear up their own sick?

I’d like some advice from parents out there please.

If your child woke during the night and was suffering bad sickness and diarrhoea and vomited in their bed (top bunk). Would you make them (still feeling very sick) climb back up the ladder with a bin bag and make them strip their bed and clean the mess up?
My next question is: would you expect this to happen to your child in a paid JUNIOR boarding school?
After cleaning the mess up the child was taken to the school medical centre where they continued to suffer more sickness.

I’d appreciate as many views as possible before I take matters further and to ensure I’m not overreacting.

Surely the housemasters are in loco parentis, so I would say that was a very cruel thing to do when the child is obviously unwell. Disgraceful. although if it was self-induced teenage drinking I might be of a different opinion

But then again I am not a fan of boarding schools so nothing would surprise me about them.

No. Despicable. As if it’s a choice to be sick and that’s a punishment. In fact, that would be a huge warning sign to me about the ethos of the school.

No, absolutely not ok. I would never make my own children do that and would certainly not make any children in my care do it.
I am a teacher in a residential school and have cleared up plenty of sick during lessons. Snot and spit too for that matter! It's part of the job! I know if the children who are residents are sick then staff clear up and help get the child cleaned up too.

Can an adult get up to change it?

I used to have to send a child up to strip the top bunk when they had bunk beds because I just couldn't get up there to do it, I'm too tall.

Yes, actually that is exactly what I would expect from a junior boarding school. That's why the kids grow up so independent damaged .
