Ear pain after failed Gromet op

Hi my DS, 2, went into hospital just over a week ago for Gromets inserting in both ears. Unfortunately when he was under and they had cleaned his ears out they discovered both ear drums were perforated so couldn't complete the op. He's still complaining his left ear is hurting (although he is full of cold) is this normal? We were told the aftercare was the same as if the op had been successful but reading up there isn't usually any pain. He NEVER gets a temp (even through many eae infections) so it's hard to tell if he's ill. Our docs are fab but it's a very busy practice so I don't want to take an appointment somebody may need TIA

I hope your son makes a recovery,if youre worried call ENT were op was undertaken seek advice
Ear infection and or cold will elevate temperature and can cause pain.but do get it checked out
Your not wasting GP time getting a post operative child checked over, really

My kids had bilateral grommets, and it resolved glue ear, with no further issues other than check up for monitoring

Thank you. We have been to docs today, thankfully no infection - doc thinks it maybe linked to his cold. I'm hoping his ear drums will repair and then all will clear up - ever the optimist x
