He's ten and a half, had it for a few days, visibly swollen round the middle and he says it's very sore. Dh seems to think it's puberty related and nothing to worry about but soreness?

StealthPolarBear Tue 10-Oct-17 19:21:06

No injury btw

StealthPolarBear Tue 10-Oct-17 19:38:45

Bump

Could be an infection, my DS was hospitalised with similar when aged 4. Can he pee without pain ?

GlitteryBollox Tue 10-Oct-17 19:42:23

Has he been swimming recently ?
Either way, I would take him to the gp Beiderbecke it gets too sore and infected.

Ropsleybunny Tue 10-Oct-17 19:43:37

Take him to the GP, as soon as you can get an appointment.

GlitteryBollox Tue 10-Oct-17 19:44:05

Before obviously, my ipad is a tosser.

Get it checked!

My ds had an infection which he kept to himself - of course, it got worse and worse and something that would have been simple to treat, became much more difficult.

BroomstickOfLove Tue 10-Oct-17 19:45:22

Take him to the GP in case he has an infection.

My DS got cellulitis in his penis when he was little. Not sure why but he needed antibiotics. I'm not sure it's a puberty symptom if it's been like that for a couple of days.
Get him checked out.

Probably balanitis if it is the glans that is red and inflamed, generally treated by anti fungal or antibiotic treatment and maintaining good hygiene. If he is having problems urinating with it it needs seeing urgently so phoning 111 would be appropriate, otherwise emergency go appt in the morning. If you are not sure about what to do 111 will help.

StealthPolarBear Tue 10-Oct-17 19:52:02

Thank you. It's not red or hot and no problems weeing.

123bananas Tue 10-Oct-17 19:57:45

Could it be paraphimosis op, if so it may need urgent treatment.

Phimosis and paraphimosis.

You need a Drs opinion asap. And of course it isn't puberty related so I wouldn't listen to your husband

lozzylizzy Thu 12-Oct-17 20:03:02

Definitely get him into the GP! Puberty doesn't cause swelling, redness and pain!

autumnrainandbooks Thu 12-Oct-17 20:04:07

Why are you both looking at your 10 yo's penis?

Bonez Thu 12-Oct-17 20:04:44

@autumnrainandbooks I'd assume her son told her it was sore and swollen?

autumnrainandbooks Thu 12-Oct-17 20:07:54

Fair enough! Was imagining both parents peering at it grin

StealthPolarBear Thu 12-Oct-17 20:36:27

hmm what an odd question..
