Shingles?

My 9 year old DD has just got out of bed complaining of pain and itching on her back. Had a look to see this red spotty rash on the left side of her back. Is it shingles? She's had a mild cold for a few days. She has had chicken pox twice at 18 mth's and at age 3. If it is shingles what's the protocol re school etc? Any info gratefully received please

Shingles normally follows a nerve and doesn't cross the midline of the body. Are there any more of them?

The spots look a bit like shingles but I'd expect more of a swoosh e.g. around the ribs.

Thank your for replying. No there aren't any more. They are on the left side under the shoulder blade.

Could be shingles. GP I think and I wouldn't delay as she'll need antivirals quickly if it is shingles.

I've had shingles numerous times, on my shoulder blade too. Looks like this. It can be quite uncomfortable, it will go all bubbly and sore, then itchy, then scabby. It will be uncomfortable for a few days.

Protocol while I was at work was that I could still go as long as I wore a cardigan.

I'd definitely get a docs appt for tomorrow.

Hope she feels better soon.

I will get it checked out tomorrow. She's meant to be going to a swimming party clearly that won't be happening! Sounds like school may be do able Monday if she's okay in herself
