Any optometrists around please?

My son(9.5) had an eye test today and the man doing the testing seemed to 'um and ahh about my ds needing glasses or not
His right eye was cyl-0.50 and left was the same.
He sometimes gets the odd headache bit nothing serious. does he need glasses?

What was the cyl axis and was there a sphere reading?
Is he having any issues with reading/concentrating at school?
Did the prescription increase reading speed?
