An chicken pox start in the mouth?

How do you know it's not hfm? That can present in ways that look just like chickenpox - its not always confined to hands and mouth.

Yes chickenpox lesions can start anywhere. What do they look like? A number if other things can start out with oral lesions.

What colour? Shapes? Raised or flat? Fever? Pain?

Have had h/f/m not sure can get it more than once? But anyway am more concerned about the pox they have it at nursery and I'm going away! She is off colour, high temp, sick, and keeps telling me her mouth is sore but can't see anything as yet, few motley spots here and there. Just paranoid due to pox at nursery.

@Anatidae just had another look and found 4 proper red spots in roof of mouth

Yes you can get it more than once. You will be immune only to the specific strain you had and it's caused by more than one type of virus (coxsackie and enteroviruses.) it's possible she has a different strain, you can usually tell by the spots - if they fill with fluid then blister it's more likely to be pox.

If she has a high temp and spots that look like pox she needs to be kept home until the LAST spot is crusted, in reality that is hard to see so err on the side of caution. Chickenpox can be very unpleasant and even fatal to the immune compromised, foetuses etc so it really is important you keep her home.

Ice lollies, fluids, rest. Clinpox and oatmeal baths. If she's really sick make sure she's seen (but don't just rock up to the GP with her, that's a huge risk to others waiting.)
