Conjuctivitis- how long to clear up with drops

2 1/2 year old got conjuctivitis and high temp out of the blue on Thursday. Got prescribed antibiotic drops for eyes. Normally how long would you give them to work before going back to Drs? The discharge is not as bad but his eye is a bit puffy and not fully opened. It is still watering a lot. He also still has a very high temp (managed by paracetamol and ibuprofen). It's only one eye that is affected.

I am aware of other problems to look out for and I am definitely on eye watch. But don't think I need to get him seen urgently yet but will do if it gets worse.

Hi,
My daughter (3) has had conjunctivitis a few times and each time it has cleared within the week. It was always worse in the morning and I also found that it got worse, then better, then worse and continued like this until it cleared completely.

As it goes, she has a red puffy eyelid today so it could be on its way again :(

My son had it quite badly in the winter and it was a good week before it cleared up. I tried taking him to the doctor as it looked so horrendous but was told by the lovely gp not to bother him with it again.

That was nice of the GP!!! I told nursery not to give my boy Calpol the other day so he had temp at Drs. So they could actually see he wasn't well lol.
It actually looks a lot better now although still got a high temp of 38.9. Not that you can tell since he's running about like an idiot.
I think I was over stressing earlier since he had a really bad eye infection in the same eye last year. So I've been worried this was going to go the same way. But i don't think it will.
