Dd was stung a week ago, it was definitely a bee. She had quite a large local reaction for 48 hours after but then it all calmed down and she was fine.

She woke up last night complaining it was itchy and today the whole area that swelled up (and subsequently went down) is now covered in a red itchy rash.

What is going on?! I'm giving her piriton and making her put her foot in cool water whenever the itching gets too bad but is there anything else I should do?

If it's still bad after being stung a week ago then I would make an appointment with my GP. You could call 111 for advice on what to do for best until you can see a GP. Otherwise, if the cool water is helping then just keep doing that until you can see the doctor. Porridge oats in the water or bicarb of soda in the water should help to calm any itching.

I'd be concerned about infection if it's been a week and got better but now is getting worse again. Calling 111 for advice seems sensible.

Did you get the stinger out?

Poor DD, hope it feels better soon.

We took her to a pharmacist who was convinced the rash is nothing to do with the bee sting although it's in exactly the same area as last weeks sting reaction. I've attached 2 photos one from last week with a big smooth red irritated area (which the got better 48hrs later) and one of todays mystery rash

Is the redness spreading? Draw a line round it and keep an eye? Any temp or other signs of infection/or being unwell?

Yeah, horrendous itch a little while later is exactly how I respond to bee stings. Anti-histamines, again!

Redness doesn't seem to be spreading, we have drawn a line round it (there is a biro outline in the photo, its not really dirty feet Grin )and restarted the antihistamines.
