Dd struggling with over active bladder...

Dd (9) has had an overactive bladder for a few years. She's been on tolterodyne for a year - but in the past few months it has got worse and she has started bed wetting as well as daytime. It's very hard on her and we are struggling too. We saw a Dr about a month ago who hinted that there may be an operation that can be done after she's 10 or so if it hasn't improved. In the meantime she suggested a tens machine and a scan - but we have heard nothing since from the NHS. Does anyone know if there is something major (like an op) that would help? Has anyone had more help going privately? She's in a lot of discomfort, and embarrassed and I so want to help her ASAP. Any advice?

Is there a specific cause? Have you identified anything that helps? Eg routine and avoiding certain drinks.
Poor kid. It must be so hard. (DS had kidney issues so some vague idea!)

My DD got better when we eliminated 'no added sugar' drinks, ie anything with sweeteners in it. It made a noticeable difference and she didn't have that instant urge to wee.

It is better, a bit counterintuitively, when she drinks lots in small sips through the day, but it's hard to monitor at school. I hadn't thought of specific things like sweeteners. I'll try to start a diary to see if anything makes it better - or not. Thank you.
