St Johns Ambulance do a 'Babysafe' first aid course for parents of young children. They cover choking for babies and young children (different techniques). Having the knowledge of what to do in an emergency may help to manage your anxiety.

That shoud say techiques for managing^ choking - the way I've written it makes it sound like techniques for choking children. Blush

This is not normal, and what an awful way for you to live.

If you haven't already, you need to go and see your GP and tell them you're having severe anxiety that's affecting your life and get a referral for some CBT.

Please contact your gp for help. I had a bad fear of choking, myself though not my dc so much. It was horrendously bad some years back when my anxiety/panic attacks were high. Medication and cbt helped massively.

It's something that flares up the odd time but never to the same extent and I'm able to recognise it's anxiety and irrational.
