Threadworms

DS and I have threadworms. He's just managed to fall asleep. We've taken the pill the chemist gave us. Tomorrow am I will wash all our laundry. When can I expect the itchiness to ease up?

I feel embarrassed that I have them which is stupid, I know.

Ds got them twice last year ( which meant the rest of us did too). I'm afraid it does take about 3 days for them to die. In that time you need to continually have bedding, clothes, pjs etc. washed as the eggs can live for ages. And make sure everyone are washing their hands constantly too.
I then get my family to take a second pill, I think its 3 weeks after the first but check the dates, just in case anyone has managed to get reinfected, it'll kill off the baby worms before they turn into adults.

Second dose is two weeks later.

I never have washed bedding more than once. I think I read to wear pants as well as pjs for the first few nights as a way of containing the eggs. Worming seems always to have worked on first dose for us but no harm in doing 2 to make sure.

I just washed the bedding as normal. I think it's unnecessary to constantly wash bedding etc.

Good personal hygiene, short nails and pants in bed. Plus the second dose of wormer! It's never failed for us.

I would just run the iron over the bedding sheet to kill any stray eggs!

I find a big dollup of sudocreme on your anus helps the itching plus the threadworms can't crawl through it, which helps.
