Typical temp of 35?

Anyone know if it would be within normal range for a child of 8 to have a typical temp of 35 - 35.5? Google seems to indicate it's closer to hypothermia or a broken thermometer

Well it will depend how and where you are taking it. Unlikely to be 35 degrees unless child appears moribund.

Is it an ear thermometer? They're notorious for giving low results on children.

Check your temperature with it......

In ear thermometer, which is registering 36.5 - 37 for others in the house. The child is more interested in playing football than taking it easy. Trace leukocytes in urine so possible low grade infection. Will have to investigate ears for excess wax to try temp again.

not normal at all...that would be hypothermia...are you sure your thermometer is working?

I have a very low average temperature in the morning - I think it has something to do with being hypothyroid.

If child is well and running around then I'd presume the thermometer is broken or can't get a proper reading. Does s/he feel warm on their forehead? That's a decent indicator of fever even if it's not precise.

I do know of children who have a typical body temperature of 35-36 but they all have underlying health conditions.

My temp is always about 35.8 in the mornings. The thermometer works so I just assume I am cold by nature? Confused

Low body temperature is a sympyom of hypothyroidism.
