Fever for 5 days...

DD has just turned 1, and has had a fever since Friday evening. We had a phone consult with GP on Friday as she had had a watery eye for a few days and on Friday it turned red and a bit gunky. Prescribed drops which we started.

Temp started fri eve along with snotty nose, cough etc.... She has been extremely unsettled at night since, and whilst the temp is brought back down with Calpol or Nurofen, it shoots back up once either starts wearing off. Saw GP Monday who prescribed penicillin for very red throat and ears... but roll on to today the temp still keeps coming back. Last night her hands went blue and freezing, and her lips were bluish too, this happened again this morning combined with low temp of 35.2 about 5 hours after last dose of Calpol, and maybe a half hour after antibiotics. Wrapped her up and now stripping her off again as temp has climbed back to 38.5.

She's not really eating or drinking now although is pottering about, but not at all happy.

Feeling like I'm completely overreacting as I feel the need to phone GP yet again.... please tell me I'm not!?

I don't think you're overreacting. If it were me, I would be taking her back to the GP too. Even if it is just for that extra reassurance, there is no harm in getting her checked over again.

Please get her checked again.
A temperature of 5 days and more can be a symptom of Kawasaki Disease ( my son had it when he was 2) I think KD is unlikely as you haven't mentioned a rash, cracked lips and strawberry tongue but I would get her checked today.

Def get her back. If she's taking antibiotics and they aren't helping she needs a review.
Also not scare you but a low temperature can be a sign of sepsis. Most likely she's got another virus but you can never be too careful.

Thanks all . We had another phone consult and they brought her in to see the duty dr. Ears are still really red inside and advised to continue as we are and to go back Fri if still no better to review/increase her antibiotics.

toomuchocolate thank you for asking after her she is much better now. She actually got worse before she got better though... her fever started hitting 40 and she was very poorly, and then Friday she was suddenly almost back to normal. Thank goodness!

Oh my goodness, I bet you were worried! Glad she's feeling better now though.
