split eyelid

My son has tripped upstairs and banged his eyelid of all places on the banister edge. His eyelid is bleeding but not profusely. The eyelid looks split and a bit of skin is hanging off.
After the initial shock, he is not in pain, his pupils are the same size, he is watching TV happily.
I don't think it is A&E worthy, and have put savlon cream on the cut to clean it. We initially used tissues and an ice pack.
Is there any more I can do?
He'll probably look like he's been in a fight tomorrow.

Few butterfly stitches maybe? Dd fell out of the car door and split hers. Whipped out the first aid box and stuck a few on. Not even a scar 5 years on!!

Gosh, that sounds nasty. Personally as it's so close to the eye, I would want to at least speak to a GP or practice nurse about it.

Do you have a minor injuries unit near you? If so go along tonight to that, or if not A&E because of the eye lid and long term aesthetic side. Unless like previous poster you have some butterfly stitches you could pop on?
