Never ending cough - 13 month old

DD caught the nasty cough thing that's doing the rounds back in December, DH and I both had it then too. The coughing is fading away, apart from DD's, which seems to get worse when she's been out in the cold. On nursery days she's fine (goes in car so hardly outside at all) and barely coughs at night. On non-nursery days the cough is dreadful at night and keeps waking her up.

I'm trying to limit the amount she's out in the cold but need to get shopping done etc, plus it's boring for her being at home all day.

Any ideas about what would help? She's had it about six weeks and saw GP before Xmas who said her chest was clear so no need for antibiotics and it would just go away in its own time.

I'd try and get her another appointment-she's very small still and six weeks is a long time to have a cough. Poor lamb.

Does steam help? You could run the bath/shower and get the bathroom really steamy and let her play in there for a while.

Hey my ds always gets nasty coughs and colds. I always take him to docs as has a tendency to move onto his chest quick. I usually get told it's viral. But always bk at docs with in a few days as I know he needs antibiotics. Children tend to gt a cold then get a secondary infection which is usually bacterial. I never ever feel guilty about taking my ds to docs. I would rather he was safe and happy than sit at home wondering what could be going on xx
