Snufflebabe rub or oil: beat option?

Hi all
My DS is 13 weeks today and has a terrible cold, bless him. He has a horrible chesty cough and we can hear the mucus rartling on his chest as well as a runny nose which is making it hard for him to breathe. He's still had a good night's sleep (despite how disturbing his cough must have been), is feeding as normal if not a little more and smiling, no fever so is fine within himself but if im honest I'm worrying about his breathing.

We're going to try the steamy room tonight but I've also heard great things about snufflebabe vapour rub and the oil that you put in a bowl of water to scent the room. I was just wondering, does anyone think one trumps the other effectiveness wise? I was thinking of using both together but I'm worries about overwhelming him and definitely dont want that!

Thanks in advance Smile

Hi we are in the same boat with our 7.5 week old. I'm not sure about the snufflebabe rub or oil, sorry, but when I put my LO down last night I soaked a small towel, put a couple of drops of olbas oil on it and put it on the hot radiator in the room, it seemed to help slightly. We are going to get him saline nasal spray today and try that too. I hope your LO feels better soon.

We've been using the saline nasal spray too.
And please if you're worried get a docs appt, they really won't mind seeing him at all

We use calpol plug ins. Expensive but they work.

I'm going to contact the GP tomorrow seen as it's Sunday but thought i'd try some home remedies first as i've heard the doctors cant really prescribe anything you can't get over the counter but can check his breathing and whether or not he needs antibiotics which is my main worry! Smile

Thank you for the advice! You can use the Snufflebabe oil the same way you have been using the Olbas oil so that might be worth a try! Sending my get well wishes to your LO!

I've not heard of Calpol plug ins but will look out for them when we pop out for remedies later! Many thanks for the replies! Flowers
