Sleep apnea and asthma?

My son has always slept badly he is now 6 he has asthma and has done for the last couple of years, he often wakes in the night and still comes in with me, however although his breathing has always had pauses I counted a 10 second pause last night while he slept, that was the longest pause there were several others around the same time but shorter, he also sweats profusely to the point that he is soaking in his bed clothes and so is his pillow. I would like to take him to the dr what do you think? Worth a trip? My hubby thinks so, he is normally against it !

I have sleep apnoea and wouldn't have gone to the docs if it hadn't been for my husband nagging. I now use a CPAP machine which gives me great quality of sleep. It may not be that in your son, but if it is, it is good to get treatment early so he can be alert and headache free at school.

Yes absolutely. He might needs his tonsils and adenoids out. What you need is an ENT referral and possibly a sleep study.

Have you looked at food intollerances? have heard adenoids and tonsils can become inflamed. Often dairy. Sometimes gluten. Just something to try for 6 weeks before deciding to go docs route?

Thank you for your replies, he has allergy testing at the end of the month he has terrible reactions to something where his eyes all swell up it actually burnt the skin around his eyes he often has piriton for itchy eyes, he loves milk a the moment he drinks loads of it he asks for it probably drinks 1 to2 pints a day, he has just had a biopsy on a mystery rash on his body he has had a really sh*t year with one thing and another this just feels like another battle, I am worried the dr will think I am a loopy mummy !
