8mo coughing until vomiting

DD is 8mo. We are now at the end of the 4th week of coughing fits which end up at least once a day with vomiting. Have been to docs 3 times already and been told it's a virus. She has no temperature, eating and drinking okay, no green phlegm. Seems to be clear mucus annoying the back of her throat. Doc has her on ventolin twice a day. Other than than we have been doing vicks and have a humidifier. We can't tilt her cot cos she moves round all night.
The coughing goes on all night so no sleep for the last few weeks. She has a dummy which helps a bit.
I was going to try her on warm diluted orange before bed just to have a bit of acidity in her throat to help clear the mucus. Has anyone else been through this and has any other suggestions? Have to go back to doc in a week if she isn't any better.

Has DD had the whooping cough vaccine? The nighttime coughing sounds like my DD and she has asthma.

Hi pen, yes, she is up to date with all jabs including the third whooping cough one. She doesn't seem to be wheezing or struggling to inhale. No history of asthma in family and doc says too early to definitely say asthma.

My youngest has asthma and it presents as repetitive tickly cough, especially at night. Is it any better after the ventolin? Presumably you are using a spacer?

show it doesn't seem any better after the ventolin. Just had to Google what a spacer is, yes, using it with that. We wait till she has got to sleep to use it as otherwise we can't get it over her nose and mouth as she struggles too much.

Apologies, I have no experience with anyone with asthma so can I ask what you do to help alleviate it? We have had the humidifier on but not at full pelt, only on a low setting. Any other suggestions?

Mine had a bad cough that lasted about 3 weeks ar roughly that age (maybe a bit older) dr put her on the blue inhaler just to help loosen things up and we noticed an improvement. After about another week all cleared up. Just keep going back until you are happy there's improvement

Thanks Newly she is in good enough form other than the cough. Will definitely be back to doc in another week or so.
