Hearting beating fast, 6 year old

Ds laid in bed complaining his heart is beating too fast and he doesn't like it. I remember him mentioning this a few months ago too. We're going to go to the doctors tomorrow just to see what they say but any ideas on why???

My daughter had this from a similar age. Still happens now and again but it's much more infrequent. The docs referred her to cardio for an echo and she was given a cardio memo to record the episodes. They didn't pick anything up and was left as unexplained. Was he premature at all? X

Did you take his pulse to see how fast it is going?

Has it calmed down now?

No he wasn't premature. I've been up and seen him and he said it's slowed down and has just fallen asleep. I didn't do his pulse no I didn't think until I come back downstairs silly I know. I didn't want to do anything to make him panic so just chatted with him and told him he's ok and had a chat about school etc before saying night

My son had this and we got a referral to a cardiologist- he had checks of the structure of his heart & bloods and it was put down to low Vit D & iron which can cause palpitations, but he did have borderline thyroid levels but the repeat test these were normal.
Was told to try and get the actual count as if super high can be other things like SVT etc - there is an app you can use to take it and A&E doc said that the app was reliable.

Will deffo be going to the docs tomorrow just to be checked. Nobody thinks I'm a terrible mum for not rushing him out tonight to be checked then? Doubted myself and worrying now I've done wrong letting him stay in bed and sleep. He's such a fit healthy little boy, he's never poorly and he's so active.

Will the doctors take it seriously if it's just been tonight and quite a while ago do you think?

So my ds had an
Increased heart rate (normal x 3) and I rang 999, they sent an ambulance out
And he was blue lighted to hospital and had the crash team stop and restart his heart in Paeds ED. He has SVT, and is under cardio consultant cafe now. Get it checked tomorrow for sure, but if he's pale and unresponsive or just a bit off then at least ring 111 tonight.

Oh how scary for you both. He seems absolutely fine. I'm worrying myself now, I don't think I'm going to sleep well

Ah well get him checked tomorrow. There was no pattern to my daughters, she could be resting or active and it would happen. I used to sit and chat to her and give her sips of water. It could also be anxiety related. Try and find out if anything could be bothering him xx

Yeah I did tell him sometimes if you're worrying it may happen or if you've been thinking about anything abit frightening. He said he hadn't. We do have ongoing issues with his dad which I know plays on his mind a lot so could very well be anxiety related. Thank you x

If you are worried sleep in his room tonight. Then of to the gp tomorrow.
I used to be a cardiology nurse, and it's one area of medicine that I think doctors have a real handle on, and are really good at.
