How long for chicken pox incubation?

NHS site says 5-20 days, but I would like to know the usual amount of time it takes for the illness to start after exposure... Please tell me your experiences...

DS2 came down with them 11 days ago, and so was probably infectious a couple of days before that. I am waiting for DD to get ill, hoping that it is sooner rather than later as we have flights next week and am running out of time for her to get them and then scab over enough to be ok to bring on a plane...
I missed the window to immunise her. She is her perky self, no sign of feeling poorly yet.
Stories of quick turn around chicken pox please!

I thought it was 14-21 days.
I was 14 days exactly when I caught them off my DSis, and my two DCs were exactly 14 days apart too.

That's interesting, thanks See line.
Is that 14 days from when the first person came out in spots?

Yep - 14 days spot-to-spot!!
I was 15 when I had it, and do remember having a really bad headache the day before the spots appeared, but didn't connect the two, despite my DSis being covered.

My dd got them first, 20 days later ds came out in spots. I thought we were clear, even said to the childminder that morning we were safe because it was day 20, then got a call 3 hours later, he was covered!

DC2 came out in spots exactly 14 days after DC1 did.

He would've been infectious from a couple of days before that, though.

DC2 was much spottier than DC1, but not as unwell.

Thanks for the responses. First couple of spots appeared this evening, exactly 14 days after DS.

Looks like I'll have to adjust the travel plans...
