Dd has just had her eye test. She has a scary at the back of her eye?

No injury that I can recall. Wtf could cause this? And is it serious?

I have a scar on my eye from an infection (I slept in my lens...) but it's never caused me any problems. Unless they mentioned any cause for concern I think it should be fine.

She will be getting. Good a referral but they didn't say it was linked to the scarring....

I'm just baffled as to what's caused it she's never had an eye infection

could be they meant a naevus/freckle type thing, same rules apply for those as for ones on the skin....harmless but monitor

give them a ring and ask to talk to the optom if you are worried, they are used to people thinking things over and coming up with questions.

could even be something just to be noted on her records to save her a life time of referrals after each visit.

(am a dispensing optician...so specs rather than eyes but you see lots of this sort of thing!)

The referral was based on the results of the vision test not the scarring. She didn't seem particularly worried about it.

I will ask the specialist when I see them was just curious. Given the fact we spent all morning at the opticians I feel bad calling them back as the whole thing took a huge chunk of their time Blush

I now feel bad she's potentially been walking round unable to see clearly all this time Blush

I suspect its a CHRPE which is a congenital hypertrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium. Basically a freckle on the retina.

Very occasionally if there's a group of them they can be associated with a very unusual condition which causes polyps in the stomach area, but usually they are completely benign.

Nothing at all to worry about.

I have heard of this condition before. What Karoleann said above is most likely the case.
