15yo with heavy periods. Contraceptive pill?

Dd has had periods for over a year and they seem to be getting heavier. They're close together as well, so currently having a period two weeks after her last one and that's not unusual. She floods (uses towels, won't use tamp9ons) and has bad cramps.

Would the gP put her on the pill? Should I go with her and ask or is she old enough to be going in on her own?

I'd probably go in if she's happy for you to do so.
I was given a pill for my acne which helped with heavy periods at 15 but I'd had them since 12.
The gp may not give anything if she's only started within the year in the hope they may settle on their own.
I don't know how long they expect them to be a bit all over the place.

Yes and go with her. I waited till I was 17, and shouldn't have as the bleeding had been horrendous for years by then. I only went finally when it basically became continuous with only a break of a few days and I could barely go to School for the constant flooding.

Mum came and even though I did much of the talking, her presence gave me confidence as I was very embarrassed and was afraid I was causing a fuss. But with her there I didn't downplay it.

Was put on the pill and it changed my life. She may not be taken as seriously without you, sad to say.
