Hi, DD has had this rash come up. Just wondering if anyone knows what it is? We have an emergency doctor's appointment booked at 5, as I wasn't sure if it should be left. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas, while we are waiting?

Looks nasty! No idea what it is. Gp a good idea

lifeistooshort Tue 07-Jun-16 15:06:05

Am no medical professional but from experience I would say giant urticaria

Haggisfish Tue 07-Jun-16 15:06:19

How is she in herself? If she has a temp/seems ill at all, I'd probably nhs direct it actually. Looks nasty.

lifeistooshort Tue 07-Jun-16 15:07:17

or could it be ringworm? That's the only two that sprint to mind.

spanky2 Tue 07-Jun-16 15:08:30

Is it itchy?

AnotherTimeMaybe Tue 07-Jun-16 15:11:28

Oh dear!! Did she go to the woods? Go near any odd plants?

DDRash Tue 07-Jun-16 15:24:05

She feels fine, her temp is up a tiny bit, but she doesn't feel unwell. She hasn't been in any woods or near funny plants, that I'm aware of!! She says its a little bit itchy, but not terrible

I'd get her seen, I'm sure it's nothing but a doctor has to see this!

Haggisfish Tue 07-Jun-16 15:52:48

I would give antihistamine ASAP. If it is an allergy or urticaria it will go down quickly (ie before gp appt). If it doesn't, it tells you it's less likely to be an allergy.

Twinkie1 Tue 07-Jun-16 15:56:27

Looks like ringworm to me! But then I'm no expert so I'd go straight to see practice nurse at GP.

LuckySantangelo1 Tue 07-Jun-16 15:59:30

Yep that's ring worm to my eye.

spanky2 Tue 07-Jun-16 16:04:15

My skin loves a rash. I had a rash similar but only on one place. I'm not sure it's ringworm as the skin in the centre isn't normal colour. Maybe give a her an antihistamine ?

spanky2 Tue 07-Jun-16 16:05:26

I think my rash was due to some lovely rose scented shower gel. Should have added that.

AMR123456 Tue 07-Jun-16 16:06:23

Does look like ring worm from the pic

MerryMarigold Tue 07-Jun-16 16:08:04

I get urticaria/ hives and it doesn't have the clear bit in the middle unless it's going down. It disagree it will go down before 5pm. Mine goes up and down, moving around the body but can be in one area for around 12hours. I've had it for several months before sad even with steroids. Has she eaten strawberries, or anything unusual?

It looks a bit like discoid excema though that is usually pretty itchy.

Astridologer Tue 07-Jun-16 18:55:02

Looks like erythema multiforme. It can come on with various viral infections, reactions, etc.

KateLivesInEngland Tue 07-Jun-16 18:58:18

I was just about to post the same as Astrid ^
My son had exactly that, it was an allergic reaction and treated with antihistamines.

Queenbean Tue 07-Jun-16 18:59:55

What was it OP?

DDRash Tue 07-Jun-16 19:28:56

Astrid - you are correct! it was from amoxicillin... They have changed it and want to see her again, glad it isn't anything too worrying, thanks all smile

Haggisfish Tue 07-Jun-16 20:19:39

Phew. Glad she's ok! Does that mean she's allergic to it?

spanky2 Tue 07-Jun-16 20:29:03

I have kept checking for an update! So glad your dd is okay and the doctor has sorted it out.
