Hi just after some advise for the last 24 hours (roughly) my son has been complaining of knee/thigh ache in his right leg. He went to his swimming lesson fine this morning and told me it didnt hurt then but he cane out of nursery limping.
His teacher told me he hadnt been noticeably limping in class but had appeared quiet and tired warned a few children had been off with a tummy bug so just to look out for something as he hadnt seemed himself.
When i spoke to son he wanted a carry as he was really tired and his leg hurt to walk. Since being home hes struggled walking up the staires etc.
hes not knocked it or anything and says it just aches inside.
What could it be!?!
Should i see what its like in the morning? Would a gp look at it?! There is literally nothing to see!?

Aches inside... Fracture? A stress fracture for example is ok when swimming but hurts to walk, and it aches inside.

You can get a stress fracture playing football, running etc. You don't necessarily realise you've done it immediately and the bones aren't displaced.

Weve been to a&e and had 4 xrays which didnt reveal any kind of fracture or break... :-/ so we have to observe him for a few days and go back for further testing if t gets worse or just doesnt improve!? Hes in very noticeable pain and discomfort

i ended up taking him cos it kinda seized up. Any movement was making him wince. Even when he wasnt weight baringZ Theres no swelling or anything but he couldnt even reposition himself on the sofa without tears filling his eyes

Stress fractures are Just hairline cracks so they are not easy to see on X-rays. When have started healing they show up in the X-ray. And you don't necessarily get swelling either. Anyway, really sorry to hear you don't have a diagnosis yet. Good luck!

Yeah his xrays were looked at by three different drs but i think if we do end up bk at hosp and the bloods dont reveal anything they'll do more. Could be hip thing but he has no temp or other signs of illness :-/

Just seen this and wondered how your DS is doing now? Did he have any blood tests at the hospital? Hope he's feeling better.

He woke up with a little bit more movement in it this morning. Wasnt as stiff. By lunchtime he was holding his weight on it though still limping. By teatime he seemed to be walking on it more freely.
Im still trying to keep him off it so it can rest as much as possible. As it seems the rest yesterday has done it some good and it seems to be getting better on its own.
Will assess him again tomorrow before decided whether to go to back to hospital for the extra tests. Im starting to think he probably wont need them and its just been some kind of strained muscle!?
