3 viral infections in 3 weeks?! Normal or??

Hi everyone, apologies in advance for the long post! So my son is 3 years and 6 months old. And it all started just under 3 weeks ago when he had his 3 year immunisations (not sure if its related or just a coincidence.) So 2 days after he had his immunisations, he became really tired all of a sudden and then began screaming saying his ear, throat and head hurt. That continued throughout the night accompanied with a fever. We took him to the doctors the next day, who said it was just a viral infection. His chest, throat and ears were clear. He was then back to his normal self the next day. So the symptoms lasted around 2 days. 8 days later he became unwell again. He had a rash, a bit of a cough and he generally looked tired. He slept throughout most of the day and had a temperature of 40 which wasn't going down with calpol or nurofen. We took him to the out of hours doctor who said it was just another viral infection. He was then back to his normal self again 2 days later. 4 days after that (last night) he woke up inconsolable, and couldn't tell me what was the matter but was just screaming and was very warm. We gave him some calpol, and he has woken up poorly again! This is so unlike him, he is rarely ill and if he has a cough or a cold he normally powers through without any complaints. I am worried but I think the doctors are just going dismiss me again as a worrying mum!

Normal? Yes. Small DC come down with all kinds of things all the time and at the moment there seem to be endless viruses and bugs going round. If your DS is at nursery then he's being exposed to viruses all the time and many of them will be new to his immune system so he will come down with them. Its very frustrating and worrying as a parent.

However, if you are worried and particularly if you cannot get a fever to reduce with correctly administered doses of medicine then by all means call your doctor. That's what they're there for.

Thankyou, yes he's at nursery. I was just particularly worried as he has had 3 viral illnesses in less than 3 weeks. He had maybe 1 last winter. If this is normal though, that has put my mind slightly at rest :)
