when should I panic?

10mo DS was at my parents this weekend. For one reason or another he didn't get many naps, so when we went to pick him up yesterday he was very sleep deprived! My dad gave him a bottle at about 4, which he projectile vomited everywhere. He did the same with his bedtime bottle at about 630. We put him to bed at 645. He woke up being sick at about 11. And now he's still asleep! So he's been asleep for 16 hours and counting with an empty stomach... Should I be panicking yet?

Is he responsive/reflexive to you touching him?

He stirs a bit when I open his door to check on him. That's a good sign, right?

You don't need to panic unless he's not responsive. He may be a bit dehydrated but it happens quickly and can usually be remedied quickly.

Yes, that's good. But any worries do take him to the GP.

If he has a wet nappy that's good too.

Does he have a fever?

PS I'm not a doctor, just trying to be reassuring.

I would wake him up and see what he's like, OP.

No fever I don't think. I don't have a thermometer any more as mine ran out of batteries a few weeks ago Blush just about to check. I don't like to wake a sleeping baby!

He's awake, but not interested in milk- he's had about 3oz (normally, for breakfast, he has 7oz + cereal!). He's not himself, he just seems really sad Sad

Did he have a wet nappy?

Hope he's perking up.

Yeah he had a wet nappy. All good signs! Not perking up though. Still just really subdued.

I would take him to the out of hours if I were you. It'll be a long night ahead otherwise.

He keeps napping a bit, then perking up for a while, then crying and wanting to nap again! Not much milk (maybe 7oz in total all day) and no food. The thing is... I took him to the GP for something similar a few weeks ago, and they referred us to the local hospital, who treated me with disdain as he was clearly pretty fine by then!

Oh and he hasn't been sick at all today.

disdain? how dare he! Forget about that idiot and take your child to get checked. Your dc is the important one not the dr.
