10 year old girl feeling sick

Hi, any advice would be appreciated and wonder if anybody else's dd has been through this - last week of term, dd didn't go to school. She was feeling very sick, was actually sick for the first two evenings after feeling sick all day.

Then she felt better after 5 days. Was fine for another week. Then on Christmas eve she came downstairs after going to bed feeling sick again, felt sick all day yesterday and is upstairs in bed now feeling sick.

Took her to the GP during first 5 days of sickness, no diahorrea, no dizziness, stomach pain for a little while, some yesterday, but none today. The sick feeling seems to be worse in the evening. The GP said he thinks it's a virus.

I'm puzzled by the nausea coming back day before yesterday, poor dd feeling wretched, ruined her Christmas day and no visit to family today. Any ideas/suggestions would be welcomed.

Poor thing. My DS (7.9) is currently having medical assessment of his regular episodes of nausea and 'funny tummy'. There is never any diahorrea with it. It's looking likely that it's abdominal migraine. I think I had this as a child and suffer regular migraines as an adult (though possibly not since I stopped eating gluten).

I guess it could be a virus but if it recurs as DS's does every few weeks then it could be something like that? I guess all you can do is wait and see.

Has she had any new food lately?

No, no new foods lately, she normally really enjoys her food. I thought about dialling 111, but I'm sure there's nothing they can suggest - not an emergency so I'll leave it until Tuesday for the GP, but I'm hoping she'll feel better by then. Lasted 5 days previous bout.

She's in year 6, quite a stressful time of it at school, but she has no academic struggles and said the practice SATS don't bother her. I'll google abdominal migraine, never heard of it before. I have half an idea it could be hormones, she's nearly 11.

My 11 year old has phases of this.
I've tried going lactose free and gluten free with no difference.
I've decided it might be hormonal

Could it be anxiety? My anxiety started around age 10 and continues now, I just have to think about feeling anxious and then I feel sick. Usually end up with a few trips to the bathroom and occasionally I am actually sick. Incredibly frustrating. I could be way off though.

It sounds very like abdominal migraine. I had it as a child and ds3 (9.5) has bouts of it. I was given some sort of medication (I think it was chlorpromazine) for it eventually and it stopped.

We are supposed to be visiting relatives today, but dd is feeling sick again, can't put her through a car journey. GPs appointment this evening, I will ask for urine/fecal samples to be done.

She doesn't appear to be anxious at all - she normally tells me if anything is worrying her, but can't say for sure. She's been going back to old childhood habits such as sucking thumb and clutching her bear all the time.

Abdo migraine - no pain, just feeling sick, but a possibility. Just hoping it will go soon.

Could it be her ears? My dd struggles with this often and in the past it has either Been a blocked ear that needed syringing Or a double ear infection!
