Hope someone can give me some advice to put my mind at rest this evening. DD is nearly 2, had a fever Sun-Mon of 39 which we managed to control reasonably well with Calpol. Has turned into a nasty sore throat which seems to be getting worse- today I have found it near impossible to get fluids into her as she sobs with pain after swallowing one mouthful of drink. She is strictly only allowed milk and water normally but today I have been trying squash, milkshake- anything to get her to drink.
GP checked Tues morn and said no discharge in the throat but is it possible this has now turned into tonsillitis in the time since then? And even if it has, will thy give any antibiotics as tonsillitis can be viral I read?
We are on max dosage of alternating Calpol and Nurofen since Sunday but she is still whimpering all day (and a fair bit of the night) and refusing food and drink today is making me really worried.
