Clever mummies of mumsnet I needs your magic remedies for my little boy. 7 months old with a terrible cold and teething does not make Fred a happy boy.

Been to see GP who says not on chest just can't clear the flem. He can't sleep in the cot at the moment and since this am has only slept in the car. Will be making the bathroom steamy before bed to try and ease it and raising the cot one end. He is having max does of Calpol.
Anything else that you do to help your little ones?
Fred says thank you in advance ...

Saline nasal spray, olbas oil on a hankie, snuffle babe (like Vicks but for babies) might all help

Calpol plug-in for his room, snuffle babe on chest.

We use the calpol night light, it releases that Olbasy smell through the night. Seems to help a little once he's at the snuffly blocked up stage. Maybe just me feeling like I'm doing something but we like it.

Do you have a snot sucker? Very gross but very effective in the short term, my DS hates it though, must feel like his brain is being pulled out.

Yy to all the above. Put a pillow under his mattress, it helps to ease a cough. DS is currently having 2 pillows for the same reason.

Thebirds aren't snot suckers dangerous? I heard they weaken the nasal membrane or something. Hmm

Oh dear, I hadn't heard that! But I only used it once as it wasn't a pleasant experience! I wonder why they are in baby starter kits? That's odd.

Thanks everyone - just to keep mummy on her toes Fred had one of the best nights sleep ever last night.

Need to get my hands on this snuffle baby stuff. Have got the Calpol Plug on and I think raising the cot helped a lot.

I am sure he will be up all night tonight to keep up the mind games.

My 7 month old is having the same problem. Normally goes down fine to bed but since she's had this terrible cold keeps waking every half hour. She did cut her first tooth yesterday as well x
