My 4 wk old little girl has been diagnosed with developmental dysplasia of the hip and has to wear a harness for the next few months. It was fitted on two days ago and she is really suffering as a result. The physio said that the babies don't mind the harness at all and it's just the parents that suffer! Well, we have had none stop crying ever since and she really seems very uncomfortable and unhappy :(.
I have read on various threads about DDH that it took a few days for the baby to get used to wearing the harness, please can someone confirm this for me? We are looking at 20 weeks in this thing and if everyday is going to be like this I will need Valium!! Would love to hear from parents who have gone through same thing, thank you :)

My niece had this OP...she's a lovely 23 year old woman now. I know it's terribly stressful...I well remember it.

here is a thread about it on Mumsnet which should give you some answers until someone else comes along.

thank you so much for your reply TheHouseOnBellSt, I have seen that thread. Would still appreciate anyone elses input on how long it will take her to get used to the harness! Its breaking my heart to see her so distressed and I thought we were just turning a corner with sleeping etc...
