Chicken pox, under eye lid

Hi,

DS2 has chicken pox, started Friday morning relatively ok. Not covered in spots. Raised temperature today.
He does have one on the rim of his eye lid though, it's in contact with his eye. The lid looks a bit puffy and the eye a bit pink.
Is this something that needs to be checked? In the back of my head something is saying that spots very near to the eye should be checked..happy to be told i'm wrong!

Thanks :)

I don't know but will be watching as we are in the same position! We went to ooh gp as dd also has rotavirus and they didn't comment on spots near the eye. Hope he feels better soon-I've found the virasoothe stuff really good.

Ah thank you, we just attacked him with calamine...wasn't pretty! May add virasoothe to DH's shopping list.

Your poor DD having rotavirus and pox! Hope she's all better soon as well.

Haggis - back from the Drs and they said that chicken pox under the eyelid/in contact with the eye can cause an ulcer on the eye. So ds has been given eye drops. So might best to get dd checked if it's still a problem.

Oh gosh, thanks for that. Dds is just under her eye so will keep a close eye on it. Hope your ds feels better soon-we are finding the virasoothe is really great. I hate chicken pox!

Ah right, if it's not in contact with the eye it should be fine.
I too hate chicken pox, it starts off slowly and they seem 'ok', then boom it all goes horrible. Hope your dd is better soon, too.
