I'm hoping someone can help or has experienced this situation before. On Saturday morning my 4 year old DS woke up with poo in his nappy. He was just as surprised as I was, as he wasn't aware of having done any in the night as he would usually get up, take his nappy off and do a poo in the toilet. It actually looked like a very small amount, a fart gone wrong if you know what I mean, so I didn't think much of it.

Later that day he was playing with his brother when I noticed there was a wet patch on the ground, I smelt poo and I realised that he had pooed himself. He was horrified as he didn't have the urge to go, it just escaped - again it was a small quantity but pretty disgusting, diarrhoea. He said his tummy didn't hurt and when I sat him on the loo he didn't do anymore.

So I put him on a rice, chicken and carrot type diet for a couple of days and everything seemed to be fine, yesterday he did a poo in the toilet which he said was normal. But just now the diarrhoea escape thing happened again - again he pooed his pants because he said he didn't feel the urge to go.

Has anyone got any idea why this could be happening? I live abroad and it is very hot here at the moment, I'm not sure whether it could be that. It just seems weird that it would happen again five days later and totally out of the blue, he hasn't been ill or complaining about any pain.

constipation and leakage.
Put him in pullups and get him to see a doctor who will give laxatives.
