Constipation in 13 month old

My DS has struggled with constipation ever since weaning but lactulose has, until now, helped him out. About a month ago he had a d&v bug which lasted for about a week and since that cleared up he's been seriously constipated again - only managing to poo every 4 days and spending a lot of time straining and getting upset. It breaks my heart.

I am hoping to get a Drs appointment by the end of the week, but does anyone have any tips? I feel I've tried all the obvious: have cut out banana and eggs, and he has loads of fruit including prunes almost every day, but to no avail.

I can't bear to see him so upset xx
