Dd who is 5 has a wired cold which started with a cough. Today she coughing more and more. At the moment it only appears to be in throat but she just can't seem to catch her breath between coughs at times. She has been asleep since 7 tonight and has been coughing in her sleep every few minutes. I have tried honey but is there anything else I can try? Does piriton help at all?

After 4 weeks (and antibiotics), DD has finally shifted her cough. The following helped:
Child's cough syrup
Dish of water on the radiator
Vicks rubbed on chest, back and soles of feet (under socks)
Olbas oil on a damp cloth on bedside table
Window open a fraction

The dry air in a heated house seems to aggregate a cough hence the water and fresh air. No idea why Vicks on the feet works but it does
