Allergic to eye patches , is this possible ?

Ds has to wear an eye patch for a few months & after wearing one for a week it seems he is allergic as he keeps coming up in a raised rash round his eye wear the patch sits .

He can't have a patch that goes over his glasses as that won't work for him which is what I were told when he was at the hospital , so what do I do ?
He really does need to wear a patch so can't just stop them .

Any ideas ?

I would contact the hospital dept that saw him and explain.

People are allergic to plasters all the time and I presume the patch is along the lines of a plaster.

They will probably have an alternative.

the patches use a hypoallergenic adhesive which is gentler on the skin than plasters, however some children with sensitive skin will react to the adhesive, depending on the level of vision in the weaker eye sticky patches may be recommended rather than a fabric patch as non sticky patches are much easier to peep around. Phone the department treating him and ask what there alternatives are. For children with sensitive skin you can try putting the patch on the back of your hand first as this makes it less sticky on his face. Children will often have a red mark around their eye when the patch first comes off but if the redness persists or he actually has a rash it is likely he is allergic
