Does anyone have a child with hypodontia?

I have 2 boys aged 3 and 9 months. My older son has got hypodontia which is a genetic condition whereby some teeth are missing. It is often characterised by pointy teeth which my son has and he is missing 2 of his baby teeth. He may be missing more of his second teeth which means he'll have to keep some of his baby teeth for life. Apparently he'll need quite a bit of dental work to get it fixed (or rather to get his teeth looking a bit more attractive!). My younger son has cut his first tooth and it is as sharp as a razor so am assuming he'll have the same problem.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone else who has children with this condition to see how it's going. My older son is an outpatient at Eastman Dental hospital, I've taken him there once so far, they won't start doing anything about it until he's at least 4 as they need to do X-rays which he won't be keen on just yet!

Look forward to hearing from anyone else dealing with this!

My middle son has mild hypodontia. He has one tooth completely missing and one very thin and pointy. He's almost 17 and these are his adult teeth. We didn't notice anything unusual about his baby teeth. He's about to start orthodontic treatment for his overcrowded and out of place teeth. Once his teeth are straight and in place the pointy tooth will be built up and the tooth next to the missing one will be built up to look like the missing one. The missing/pointy ones are the ones either side of his top front teeth.

I've pm'd you. I've got some experience with ectodermal dysplasia (rather rare) if anyone is interested.
