Ds1 (8) tummy ache for four days

Hi
Some advice please or stop me worrying!
My DS1 (8) has complained of tummy ache and not feeling well everyday this week for four days. It's sporadic and he will be on top form one minute and then not the next. It's not agonising and can distract him from it. I thought it was a virus but now I'm worrying. When he has the tummy ache he eats and feels a lot better. I asked him if he feels hungry but he says it doesn't feel like when he thinks he's hungry.
Any advice? X

Sorry if this is an obvious question, but has he been eating anything different to usual?
And has he been able to go to the toilet as usual?

I'd take him to the doctors, 4 days is a long time to feel like that for an 8yr old.
It does sound like constipation, but I'm not a doctor!

I spoke to the doc today who suggested constipation. He goes very other day but doc said he should go more regularly. He will see him next week for a feel of his tummy. He said he needs to drink lots. I hope that's all it is. He mentioned the glands in the tummy if it was a virus which he has had before. X

Constipation is the most obvious cause but keep an eye on him as appendicitis can have similar early signs. My niece had on/off tummy ache for over a week and my DSIL was initially told it was constipation.

Thanks Mona (love the name!)
It's off more than on during the day and comes at different times. It's not so bad but enough to make him feel 'poorly' we ended up at A and E a couple of months ago as he had awful tummy ache and they thought it was appendicitis but decided it wasn't. They mentioned his glands then x

He doesn't seem to be ill in any other way. Should I be concerned? X

That sounds very similar to my DD. she started complaining of tummy ache on Sunday. On Monday she rather tired and not herself for a lot of the day. Nurofen seemed to help a lot. On Tuesday and Wednesday the tummy ache happened less bug did seem to start suddenly.

I had thought she had pulled a muscle because on Sunday morning she had been trying to do sit ups. Then a work colleague told me her daughter had been similar last week and gp had said it was a virus.

DD has been totally fine today, so if it is a virus, it seems to need nearly a week to go.

Thanks running, I'm a worrier and tend to over react. He's had it sporadically every day for 5 days but it's not all the time. When he's well he's great, trampolining etc but then it appears and he's very quiet. Seems sad :-( x

Be worms - one dose of Ovex and he was right as rain.

Reviving this thread as it's day 8 and he still has tummy ache that comes and goes. He's fine in himself until he gets a tummy ache. Seeing doc on Thursday. He is pooing but they are huge. He has lots of wind too. My daughter is now complaining of tummy ache and sore throat. Would a virus go on this long? It seems like one as he is up and down and the tummy ache isn't agony. X

Been to the docs, given movicol. Tapped his stomach area and said it sounded dull like it was full?? Could also be his glands but got to try this first. X
