7 month old - chicken pox!

I am probably might be overreacting but my friend's children got chicken pox last week and we had seen them 1 week before they got the spots. Today, DD (7 months) has a mild fever and yesterday she was quite sicky. No visible spots yet but I've put her in her cot for a nap while the calpol kicks in so can't check at the moment.
Am I overreacting or could this just be teething? Her first one started coming through on Saturday.
I know no one can tell me either way and I will just have to wait and see but just wondered if anyone with more experience has any advice! Grin

Chicken pox is usually only contagious 1-2 days before the spots appear, so I would have thought it's unlikely your DD has it if she came into contact with them 1 week before they had any spots.

Thanks for the reply Grin I hope you're right. I read something somewhere on the internet once that said the incubation period was 2 weeks which is why I was panicking! Fingers crossed eh!

They incubate the virus for around 2 weeks inside the body (so the spots will appear around 2 weeks after contact with an infected person). This just happened with my DDs. DD1 had it and about 2.5 weeks after she first had the rash DD2 came out in spots. Not contagious to others till just before the rash though. Hopefully you'll be ok.

I hope so. Hope your DDs are ok now! Smile
