Is this chicken pox?

My 2yo DS has been exposed to chicken pox last week and since Monday he hasnt really been himself, a lot more grizzly and unsettled. Today he has started scratching all over an i noticed a red area on his feet with small white bumps. This disappeared after about an hour (co-inciding with when i gave him calpol) but has appeared elsewhere on his body (tummy then later his chin) and disappeared again.

We've given him childrens piriton and calpol and he's gone to bed ok.

Does this sound like The Pox? He just doesnt have any obvious spots. I know some kids only get a handful but i would have thought they would have started appearing, or staying by now.

We have a 7week old DD who is breastfed and we are keeping our fingers crossed she wont get it, or at least if she does it wont be too bad.

no it doesnt sound like chicken pox if it is appearing and fading.

p.s. the incubation period is 10-21 days so has it been 10 days or more since he was in contact with the infected child

My 1 year old has been very grumpy this week with a rash on her tummy. My friend's baby has the same. I think it must be a virus. DD is eating well and hasn't a temperature. Thought it was an allergy to washing powder at first but I think a few of them have it.
Go to a doctor if you are worried.

A few kids he see's regularly have had spots appear last week and over the weekend, and thinking about it he has been playing (& swimming) with them during their entire contagious time, and definitely at least 10 days ago.

Looks like i'll be phoning the gp in the morning if proper spots dont appear overnight.

its only contagious for 1-2 days before the spots appear (although incubation period is 10-21days) and until they crust over

My ds had a micro rash first which started to fade back and then bang! The spots arrived like I couldn't believe. He got a bad dose of chicken pox poor thing.

Just to update we have seen gp as the rash kept coming & going in different areas. He has a virus of some sort but the spotty rash is not chicken pox. Doctor checked his ears & they are quite pink as well so he could have an ear infection too (he's had quite a few).

It is likely he will still come down with cp as he was exposed right on contagious time so its a waiting game now.
