Sadly we need a second thread :-(

My son Alex was diagnosed with ALL (Leukaemia) in July and we are making our way though the 2 years of treatment that are given here in the Netherlands.

If you want support, or wish to share your story, or can give support please do join us.

It's a shitty journey but together we'll get through it.

Please can anyone advise me. We are 4 years out of treatment with serious life changing side effects. It is becoming more and more obvious we will be ignored, left out, not invited by some 'friends'. Usually I'd just not see them again but they are part of a circle which we socialise with. I am so upset, I valued these people and they were my DC's friends. They just don't get that cancer affects everything, always and forever.

Min, I am so sorry. I have been following your journey and you are so brave and courageous and he sounds like he was the most wonderful boy. My thoughts are with you, even though you don't know me. Thank you for sharing. X

I have posted on the other thread but just wanted to add how very very sad this is for you, your son and the rest of your family. I'm sure you are in everyone's thoughts today. Sending you warm wishes and the hope you have lots of real life support. I hope you can gain some comfort in knowing that you have been a remarkable mum to your dear son, you could not of done more for him. R.I.P. Will.

Truly, those are beautiful inspiring words.

Love to all who find themselves on this thread and especially min.

You have had to do the hardest job that can be asked of any parent, Min. You saw Will into the world with love and labour, and you accompanied him as far as you could and saw him out of it with love, gentleness, dignity and more love. No one could do more.
Much love to you, Will's Dad and Will's brother.
What a long and terrible road you've been on and how difficult the road ahead.
My thoughts and love are with you all.
Rest peacefully, Will. XXX

I agree twunk. Whilst I have nothing to update at the moment, it would feel somehow wrong to carry on on this thread. And it would be awful if one of us, or someone new, needed the support and felt awkward posting.

My thoughts are still with you min

Hassled Wed 26-Feb-14 20:06:35

Min - I'm just so sorry.

barefootcook Wed 26-Feb-14 20:03:10

lougle Wed 26-Feb-14 19:39:18

I'm glad you were all able to be with Will at those last moments, Minmooch. I hope that you can all get a little rest and comfort each other with the knowledge that your boy was so brave and so wonderful.

NorkyButNice Wed 26-Feb-14 19:35:48

Fivemoreminutesmummy Wed 26-Feb-14 19:28:42

So sorry min
He sounds like a gentle soul and I hope he sleeps peacefully.
I can't begin to imagine how you feel but you have always been unfailingly kind and generous in spirit to others and you are a wonderful mother. Sending you love.

mummylin2495 Wed 26-Feb-14 19:13:19

I. Am saddened to see your news. May your lovely son rest in peace and may you somehow find the strength to get through this awful time.
