Hi, I am close to going crazy with my Daughter, she is 11 years old, 12 in September, she is in her last year of primary school. Her attendance at school is just 77%. Her school have called me to collect her again as she has been sick. I am not exaggerating when I say not a week goes by where she isn't sick, has the runs or stomach pain. GP says its just bugs and its normal but this can't be normal for a child to be this ill. Her hygiene is good, diet ok ( wont touch veg but does have fruit ) I genuinely do not know what to do, her friends don't have "these bugs" but I need it resolved before secondary school! Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Go back the GP and kick up!

Start by keeping a food diary get your DD to help hopefully you might be able to spot a trigger.

There are a load of things that could be causing this I am afraid. Colitus, irritable bowel, an allergy, celiac, possibly stress, stomach migrains, a weaker immune system etc. No one is going to be able to be much help.

But no this is not normal and i would be getting it looked into.

yes to food diary and insisting gp runs blood tests to rule out various issues

Oh dear, you sound so worried.

I don't think she would have a 'bug' every week either. If I were you, I would go back to the gp and insist on further investigation. It could be that she has an allergy or food intolerance.

Just a thought - is DD under stress at school? Some children get so anxious that they have stomach pains and can vomit. When my DD was in year 6 they all started falling out and she became rather unsettled.

Good luck, I hope you can get it sorted out.

Thanks guys, I have had the talk and spoken to teachers seems nothing bad at school, I agree some form of food intolerance seems to fit with me, she was awfully ill after a Chinese, we were all fine so not food poisoning. Will start food diary tomorrow as GP can't see her until Monday after next!!!
